As I was saying, funkyou.ro is now back on track, with a full release of this platform

FunkYou stands for experiments and developing new ideas which I think is interesting, because not many designers publish experimental works, at least not in Romania...

The new website is now live and its got artists and studios features, interviews, a forum, job board and even a shop (with some help from Sunnyday)!
Looking good, looking fresh, designed by Stefan Lucut...

Hope this project will attract the attention of the Romanian design community, because there are some talented designers and artists in Romania that need to come out and show their work to the world.
And the idea of design workshops, plus Funkyou - the book featuring the best in experimental design are most welcome.

Good luck to the team behind Funkyou.ro. I hope this project will do just fine.

Recently I've discovered the wonderful works of a very talented Romanian illustrator - Livia Coloji.

This is her selfportrait.

She has a very distinctive style of illustration, using acrylics for her paintings and Xara for digital illustrations, a style that is perfect for children books (she already illustrated a few), postcards, greeting cards and all things handmade.

After FF Meta got a Serif version, now, with the 80th birthday of Adrian Frutiger, Linotype released a Serif version of Frutiger.

Based on an earlier typeface - Meridien - Frutiger Serif is a new typeface family, updated and expanded from Meridien and was produced by Adrian Frutiger and Akira Kobayashi.
Some of the changes include more weights in the family, a condensed version, lining and OSF, small caps, extra characters, some revised characters and more.

Speakers: Michael C. Place from Build, Michael Gillette a fine British-pop illustrator and Glen E. Friedman, the famous skateboarding photographer interviewed by another photographer, Aidan Kelly.

The presentations are very interesting and fun to watch. What else can you do on a rainy Saturday afternoon...

Ioana Marinescu is a talented Romanian architecture photographer.
She already published in magazines like Architectural Review, Architect's Journal, Elle Deco or Lotus International.

It seems that the old funkyou.ro website has some new owners and its making a comeback.

Funk You is a platform for experimental graphic design and will be the first magazine of its kind in Eastern Europe. Our aim is to present designers with the opportunity to express themselves without the constraints of a usual designer-client relationship.
Funk You stands for experiments and developing new ideas. Everything is possible and we want to encourage people to try a new way of thinking and creating. Funk You will feature both Romanian and international designers.

The guys at Citrus Design, with Stefan Lucut as an Art Director, are releasing through this new platform a quarterly magazine featuring artists and projects, the Funk You website and forum, a new website - minimalexperimental.com - that will organize monthly graphic design exhibitions, then some workshops and presentations organized three or four times a year.

I'll wait to see what the guys have prepared for us, but for now, all this looks very promising. Nice going guys!

Cel mai mult mi-a placut prezentarea lui Alexander Schonfeld, C.D. in cadrul Landor Hamburg, care a discutat despre simboluri, simbolistica si gesturi in branding, o prezentare interesanta si singura mai interactiva, deoarece a implicat si publicul intr-o masura.

Lori Rosenwasser, Director Global pe Brand Engagement Landor, a prezentat cateva studii de caz din S.U.A. pe acest domeniu si a vorbit despre cum brandurile de succes pornesc de la oameni, oferind si cateva sfaturi utile despre brand engagement.

Andrew Welch a tinut o prezentare despre rolul unui Chief Brand Officer in cadrul unei companii, iar Florian Langhammer a vorbit mult si bine despre noile trenduri in comunicare si impactul acestora asupra brandurilor.

Apoi a urmat si o sesiune de intrebari, unde eu personal l-am intrebat pe Alexander ce crede despre faptul ca T-mobile a inregistrat culoarea Magenta ca si culoare corporate pe piata de telecomunicatii, urmand o serie de raspunsuri din partea lui si a celorlalti pe aceasta tema.

Evenimentul a fost organizat de Seed Consultants, partenerii Landor in Romania incepand cu acest an.

Cei care au participat au primit si cartea Brand Simple - How the Best Brands Keep it Simple and Succeed, scrisa de Allen P. Adamson, Managing Directorul Landor, care la final a tinut o videoconferinta discutand despre aceasta carte.

Consider un succes conferinta si cu siguranta mai astept si altele din partea celor de la Seed, impreuna cu Landor.
